OFF TO SEE THE WIZARD WORLD
That's right folks. As of tomorrow, I will be off on a much needed belated birthday trip/vacation. This is my last ski trip of the season and I look forward to swooshing down the slopes in Switzerland. I'm a teeny bit worried because I've heard they don't mark their trails as well as in the US and they use a different color coding system. I believe it's also easy to ski across the border into another country if you're not careful. Does that mean I need to carry my passport at all times? So if you're watching the news and hear about a little brown girl lost in the Alps, it might just be me. Maybe they'll send a St. Bernard with a keg (filled with Swiss Miss hot chocolate of course) around his neck to look for me. LOL.
I don't know how on earth I'm going to get all my stuff in two measly bags plus one carry on. I think I'm going to end up paying the overweight baggge fee but oh well. I'm not looking forward to the long azz flight in coach but I didn't upgrade because I'm low on FF miles right now and I need them for the Bahamas later this summer, or maybe Vegas in the fall. However, I am looking forward to practicing the few sentences of French I know.
Bonjour, madame. [insert response here]
Pardon, je ne comprende pas. Je parle francais tres mal. Parlez-vous anglais? Oui? Merci!
I heard there are some Roman baths in Switzerland that we can go to but the germophobe in me is not too keen on bathing with strangers. I don't want anyone's dead skin cells all over me. Nevertheless, after a few days of skiing and unsanitary soaking we will be off to Paris on the TGV. I'm not sure how long the train ride is but hopefully I won't have run out of reading material just yet.
Joy of joys, there are THREE H&Ms within two miles of our hotel. I've loved H&M ever since I "discovered" it in London back in 2001. There aren't any anywhere near me though. Much thanks to Honest for taking me to the H&M in DC last summer. GeckoBro bought me another Paris guidebook for my birthday so I plan to make full use of it. I'm not sure what I plan to do just yet since I've already seen the usual stuff - Notre Dame, Eiffel Tower, etc. I do want to find the wonderful Cuban restaurant I visited the last time. Maybe I can find some nice art down by the river. I don't know if that's just during the summer though. I got a Josephine Baker print the last time and it looks so wonderful once I got it framed.
You guys enjoy your weekend and next week because I sure will. A tout a l'heure!
